The department of Bolívar continues to make waves in the field of tourism at the national level, after the municipality of San Jacinto, Bolívar was officially admitted to the Network of 'towns to fall in love with,' a campaign led by FONTUR and the Colombian Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism.

With the recognition San Jacinto boasts a tourism potential for all the natural, scenic, ethnic and cultural wealth that has grown in recent years and brings visitors from around the world to know the charm of this beautiful corner of the Department of Bolivar in Colombia.

"This is excellent news that motivates us to continue working for our magical destinations. San Jacinto is tourism of nature, culture, folklore, arts, music and a series of manifestations that make it an attractive destination for any tourist," said Iván Sanes, Director of ICULTUR.

Among the main attractions of San Jacinto is ecotourism, since it is an ideal place for hikes or bicycle rides to the emblematic Cerro de Maco, which has become an obligatory stop for travelers visiting the Montes de María.

Among the other sights of interest in the municipality are the Archaeological Museum, the Catholic Church of San Jacinto and the Community Museum, where there are vestiges of ceramics that are approximately 6000 years old are housed — some of the oldest ceramics of the American continent.

San Jacinto also celebrates a National Bagpipe Festival with multicultural gatherings, exhibitions and craft fairs.

The gaita is the representative and Indigenous music of this beautiful municipality, with outstanding renditions played by Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto, winners of a Latin Grammy Award.

"It is gratifying for San Jacinto to be part of this prestigious network and this important tourism strategy, because it is a great opportunity to encourage local tourism through the promotion and visibility of our municipality with its cultural and natural attractions," said Mayor of San Jacinto Jorge Castellar.
