The biography of former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio "Lula” da Silva, written by Fernando Morais, is now on pre-sale. The work is divided into two volumes and narrates the life of the former president, drawing parallels between the past and present. The biography will officially launch on Nov. 16, announced on Monday, Sept. 13 by Companhia das Letras.

The journalist and writer, Morais, has accompanied the former president since 2011, and has had "direct, frank and frequent access to Lula," he said.

In the first volume of Lula's biography, he goes through his childhood, the annulments of his convictions in 2019, the ABC tombs, the foundation of the PT and the first electoral campaign.

According to Companhia das Letras, being akin and close to the Brazilian left, Morais was able to have direct, frank and frequent access to Lula since 2011. He accumulated dozens of hours of testimonies and his reporter's nose allowed him to compose a biographical project that offers a panoramic picture of his character, showing his greatness and complexity.

Lula is a former union leader, founder of the Worker's Party (PT) and Brazil's first president of working-class origin. Although there are already other biographies of him, the work that Morais generates particular expectations due to the writer's friendship with the political leader.

He is also one of the greatest political figures in Brazilian history for being the only president of working class origin, achievements against poverty and hunger, and for using his charisma and influence during his time in office.
