Opening doors for other Latinas and women to rise
‘Extraordinary Latinas Vol II’ Celebrates the Stories of 17 Latina Changemakers
Latinas are rapidly becoming a growth engine for the U.S. and prominent contributors to American society's educational, economic, and cultural wellbeing. Nonetheless, they continue to be significantly underserved, undervalued, and underrepresented.
To change the narrative and redefine the power of Latinas in society, UNITED LATINAS, a collaborative organization devoted to empowering Hispanic women, decided to publish Extraordinary Latinas, a book series aimed to inspire and empower Latinas through the collection of personal experiences from Latinas of different sectors and in different places of their professional journey.
The first volume was published in 2021 (available on Amazon). In that volume, 12 prominent Latinas shared their stories, rich with insights, emotions, and remarkable experiences.

“Expressions from the past like 'calladita te ves más bonita' have no more place in our culture,” said the publishers ina press release. This book helps to recognize that the true beauty and power from Latinas comes from their uniqueness, heritage, and collective voices.
“We empower one another to become stronger, to see the world through each other's eyes, and to recognize our potential through someone else's story,” they say. “By sharing our stories, we can all be uplifted and inspired.”
The book can also send the message to Latinas that they are not alone.
“Although you may feel like the 'only one,' you can find in Extraordinary Latinas, a group of powerful women who have gone through similar experiences and will help you step up, believe in yourself and embrace your power as an Extraordinary Latina,” they said.
