Unprecedented scholarship opportunity for Dreamers
TheDream.US announced a program that will provide scholarship opportunities for undocumented immigrant students who are unable to obtain a college education because they are required to pay out-of-state tuition or are prohibited from enrolling in the state’s colleges all together.
Up to 500 immigrant students under the programs Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) or Temporary Protective Status (TPS), will be able to apply to the privately funded program. According to the organization, the scholarship will pay up to $80,000 to help fund the costs of tuition, fees, on-campus housing and meals.
Application opportunities are available to Dreamers in 16 targeted locked-out states including Pennsylvania. Deadline for applications is June 9. Scholarship recipients will be announced at the end of that same month.
