About 15,000 unaccompanied minors crossed the southern U.S. border in the first semester of fiscal year 2015, from October 2014 to March 2015, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
The majority of them are from Guatemala (4,537,) Honduras (3,418,) and El Salvador (3,313.)

The number represents a 45 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.

Texas has seen a reduction of illegal crossings of unaccompanied minors while there has been an increase in San Diego, California, and Yuma, Arizona.
