The Colorado Senate approved unanimously to partially fund its program to give driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants.

The initiative approved Monday sets aside $100,000 for three of the five DMV offices that issue licenses to undocumented immigrants.

A few weeks ago republicans in the Senate voted to stop issuing licenses to undocumented immigrants while democrats in the Lower House voted to restore the funds for such purpose.

Governor John Hickenlooper originally asked for $1.6 million for the program, but now it is expected that he will settle for the $100,000 approved by the Senate and sign the budget.

Colorado has been issuing licenses to undocumented immigrants since August 2014.
