Behold: Thanksgiving becomes art.

I'm not saying the traditional table groaning under the weight of turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing isn't a thing of beauty in and of itself, but San Francisco artist Hannah Rothstein has taken the traditional Thanksgiving fixings and turned them into art. Literally.

In a series of limited edition prints — the sale of which benefits the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank — Rothstein takes the usual components of a "Thanksgiving Special" and rearranges them on the plate in the way of great modern artists from Piet Mondrian's distinctive neoplasticism to Picasso's cubism.

Rothstein's witty take on the Thanksgiving plate is a wonderful antidote to goofy parade floats and the usual saccharine imagery served up at this time of year. My only disappointment? No Frida Kahlo or Georgia O'Keefe versions of the Thanksgiving special. Next year, perhaps?
