Join us on March 17th as we host Vanessa García, author of WHITE LIGHT, which was named one of NPR’s Best Books of 2015, for a book reading, discussion, and Q&A at the Philadelphia History Museum.
Praised by Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka for its "lyrical pace and texture," WHITE LIGHT maps a young woman's struggle to distill her grief, rage, and love onto the canvas. The story follows Cuban-American artist Veronica Gonzalez as she mourns her father’s sudden death but also faces a real chance to break into the art world through her first gallery exhibit.
WHITE LIGHT has been described by book critic Carmen María Machado as “a beautiful meditation on the creation of art and difficult familial love.”
