Some 85 organizations and counting hand-delivered a letter to Mayor Michael Nutter’s office on Friday asking him to hold off on his proposed changes to the ‘sanctuary city’ bill.

Deputy Mayor Everett Gillison received the message after the large crowd waited outside in the City Hall corridors.

Gillison said that the administration is reviewing the feedback it has received and will hold another meeting shortly.

“Our united communities across 85 organizations are committed to keep fight until we win,” said Nicole Kligerman, an organizer from the New Sanctuary Movement who helped draft the letter.

Communities on board included those from Latino, Asian- and Arab-American immigrant organizations, as well as interfaith and multicultural groups. The letter was also signed by Councilwoman Maria Quiñones-Sánchez and Councilwoman-elect Helen Gym.
