The Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GPHCC) recently announced that it has added Paul Wheatley as its new Director of Development.

In his new role with the GPHCC, Wheatley will help create and build relationships with the Chamber’s community stakeholders, corporate partners and members to gain their support for its programs and events.

Among the Chamber’s notable events is its Annual Meeting.

Scheduled this year on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, the GPHCC Annual Meeting is one of the region’s largest gatherings of executives, elected officials, business owners, and civic leaders in the Latino community.

The signature event has served as a valuable opportunity to meet and network with the Chamber’s leadership, board of directors, stakeholders, and members and also gain a deeper insight on the Chamber’s past year’s performance, learn of current conditions within the Latino business market, and hear about the Chamber’s plans for the forthcoming year.

Two of the Chamber’s other notable events include the Closing the Gap Conference, which convenes industry executives, professionals, and businesses to better understand how to present and accelerate opportunities for Latinos within the region’s fastest-growing sectors and industry; and the State of Hispanic Business Forum, which informs members, partners, policymakers and the business community about the climate, condition, and trends of the region’s Hispanic-owned businesses.

The Chamber also provides valuable programs for the region’s Hispanic entrepreneurs, such as Accelerate Business and Build Latino, programs that help small businesses scale up and provide education on the essential tools, resources and knowledge that will enable them to avoid common pitfalls in the industry, respectively.

Wheatley will be tasked with increasing support for the various programs and events.

Prior to this new role, Wheatley was as a freelance development consultant working with national and nonprofits, and was also Chief Development Officer in Covenant House Pennsylvania.

He also previously worked as a Financial Representative for Northwestern Mutual for over a year.

Wheatley graduated from Middlesex University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Literature. He also earned a diploma in creative writing from the University of Oxford and a master of philosophy from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.
