With the Thanksgiving this week, people are traveling despite suggestions not to.
Except Thousands Of Children Incarcerated By The U.S.
The U.S. could make a gesture of real 'thanksgiving' in the form of welcoming the Central American families at the border.
Los EE.UU. debe celebrar una acción verdadera de gracias y dar una bienvenida a las familias centroamericanas que están en la frontera.
As Philadelphians, we have a rich inheritance to celebrate this and every Thanksgiving.
If it’s true, as some assert, that the increased stridency of white supremacists has made it acceptable to show racial prejudice, then white people are going to start feeling the pain of being associated with a small, fringe group of over-the-top racists.
There are many ways to evaluate the Trump presidency at the six-month mark. What I am struck by is the path not taken, the lost opportunity. Donald Trump had many flaws, but during the campaign, he tapped into a real set of problems facing America and a deep frustration with the existing political system. Additionally, he embraced and expressed -- somewhat inconsistently -- a populism that went beyond the traditional left-right divide. What would things look like at this point if President Trump had governed in the manner of a pragmatic, jobs-oriented reformer who was relentlessly focused on the “forgotten” Americans of whom he often speaks?
Never mind the
actual issue of how to deal with unwieldy immigration laws or their reform,
today let's look at the long-brewing war between those who use the terms
"illegal immigrants" or "illegal aliens" and those who
prefer "undocumented immigrants."
'Tis the season to be jolly! You're stuffed from the turkey and trimmings, all the relatives have been placated for the time being, and the Christmas carols haven't gotten on your nerves yet.
But things are moving quickly. There are greeting cards to mail, people to visit, electronic gadgets to hunt down and parties to get to. You're busy. Verrrrry busy. And stressed out, and even a little overwhelmed . . . ummmm, maybe this is not the time to ask for a favor?
Well, here I go anyway, but I'll make it as simple as possible: Please feed me.
