Hijo de inmigrantes peruanos,  el senador por Omaha Tony Vargas es el artífice de una resolución de ley aprobada el pasado lunes para proteger el estatus legal de los 3,300 inmigrantes ilegales amparados por el programa DACA que viven hoy en Nebraska.

Las autoridades de Inmigración y Aduanas decidieron no renovar el estatus de DACA a la inmigrante mexicana Jessica Colotl, de 28 años, alegando una violación de tráfico cometida hace siete años. Ahora esta joven residente en Atlanta está en peligro de deportación.

Five Democratic senators joined activists for a rally here Tuesday to urge the Republican-controlled Congress to pass a law protecting the nearly 800,000 undocumented youths - known as "Dreamers" - who benefited from the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, scrapped last month by President Donald Trump.
