Un nuevo día, un nuevo monumento al polémico Rizzo vandalizado en Filadelfia. Manifestantes de ambos bandos, a favor y en contra de este controvertido y corrosivo ex alcalde y comisario de policía de la ciudad, han sido convocados hoy para protestar frente a su estatua. Una de las manifestaciones tendrá lugar hoy lunes a las 4PM, mientras que la otra, convocada por los seguidores de Rizzo, ha sido denegada por el Ayuntamiento.

Another day, another controversial Rizzo monument vandalized in Philadelphia. Ralliers, both those in favor and those against the notoriously corrosive and prejudiced former police commissioner and Mayor, were set to protest today. One is set to occur at 4PM today, while the other, comprised of Rizzo's devotees, has been shut down by the City.

El poeta llegó a México con sus padres cuando tenía 15 años, tras la caída del ejército republicano en la guerra civil española. Considerado uno de los máximos exponentes de la poesía y el pensamiento mexicanos, Xirau fue, según su amigo Octavio Paz, "un puente entre América y Europa."

El joven artista Diego Hiromi Rodríguez Carrión se ha convertido en el primer puertorriqueño en ser galardonado con el prestigioso premio que cada año concede el Woodmere Art Museum de Filadelfia. La obra premiada, Exodus es una reflexión sobre la migración boricua a EEUU- ya forma parte de la colección permanente del museo.

Two new Venezuelan Restaurants, “Tartareperia 18.64,” and “Puyero Venezuelan Flavor”, mark the latest addition to the rich Latino cuisine of Philadelphia. They are part of a revolution in the city’s cuisine that traces its roots almost 30 years ago.

The Hispanic immigrant community has played a fundamental role in the growth of the city in the last decade. In the streets it is more and more common to hear conversations held in Spanish. However, it seems that this important trend is not reflected in universities. Why? A general crisis in the study of the humanities would be the answer. AL DÍA News spoke with professors from three of the most prominent universities in the city.

I will never get to take my grandchildren to the circus.

For that matter, I’ll never again get to take my parents -- who adore going with their own grandchildren to the circus for the cotton candy, popcorn, acrobats and animals -- now that Feld Entertainment has announced that, after 146 years, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey will close in May after a few final performances.
