United States Census Bureau
Government

The Census Bureau is the federal government’s largest statistical agency.  Our mission is to serve as the nation’s leading provider of quality data about its people and economy.  We honor privacy, protect confidentiality, share our expertise globally, and conduct our work openly.  We are guided on this mission by scientific objectivity, our strong and capable workforce, our devotion to research-based innovation, and our abiding commitment to our customers.

The Decennial Census is the once-a-decade population and housing count of all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Island Areas as required by the U.S. Constitution. The results of the decennial census determine the number of seats for each state in the U.S. House of Representatives and are used to draw congressional and state legislative districts and to distribute more than $675 billion in federal funds each year.

In advance of the 2020 Census, the U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting thousands of people for temporary jobs across the country.  These positions provide the perfect opportunity to earn some extra income while helping your community. The results of the 2020 Census will help determine each state’s representation in Congress, as well as how certain funds are spent for schools, hospitals, roads, and more. This is your chance to play a part in history and help ensure that everyone in your community is counted!
