In a show of strategic transformation from the Democratic National Committee (DNC), its director, Tom Perez, has decided to change the sense of the party's communication channel, giving prominence to the simple gesture of sitting and listening.

During his visit to Pennsylvania last week, Perez participated in events along with organizers, volunteers, and Democratic candidates, emphasizing voter mobilization and grassroots political work.

For the representative of the DNC, the political reality of areas such as Pittsburgh is a sample of what is to come in the November mid-term elections.

Despite electoral failures like that of District 12 in Ohio - where Democrat Danny O'Connor lost by a narrow margin against Troy Balderson - Perez said in an interview with 90.5 WESA that "what we saw was a unity of purpose, organizers on the ground."

"If we replicate on Nov. 6 what happened in the 12th Congressional here earlier this week, we’re going to take over the House," Perez said. "And I have every confidence that we will.”

Part of the new strategies of the Democratic Party is the diversification of its platform, giving priority to candidates who are women and people of color.

"Look at the current crop of candidates we have," he said. "We’re going to have to continue to build the pipeline and make sure we build a diverse pipeline. That's why we are here today - because we want to touch every community."

During his stop in Reading, Perez recalled that the current struggle of the Democratic Party is for medical coverage, education, and democracy in general, as well as the importance of recognizing immigrants as a fundamental part of the electorate and the country.

According to the Reading Eagle, Perez highlighted several important issues: "He warned that Republicans want to take away health care coverage and said they would make being a woman a pre-existing condition, hinting at less access to abortion and birth control."

Regarding bipartisanship, the chairman explained that there are "competing narratives."

"There is a narrative of hope embodied in who we are as Democrats. It’s a narrative that says that no matter where you were born, who you worship, who you love, what your first language was, this nation is yours. The opportunity is there if you work hard," he said.
