May 19th, 2022Latinos are traditionally underrepresented in the Philly legal community, but a new program is setting out to change that.
“Sí Se Puede,” launched by the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania (HBAPA) and the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania Legal Education Fund (HBA LEF), will be supporting high school students who are considering careers in law.
While the program seeks motivated students first and foremost, it will be limited to those starting college in Fall 2015. HBAPA and HBA LEF are encouraging low-income students, students of color, and first-generation college students to apply.
The Honorable M. Teresa Sarmina, the appointed supervisor of the Sí Se Puede program in Pennsylvania, echoed the urgency of law education for Latinos.
