If in order to be a successful politician you need to master social networks, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortéz is proving to be a specialist – in addition to having a strong digital strategy team.

The fact is that the congresswoman has announced that her social network profiles will now be formally bilingual.

"I am excited to announce that all of my tweets will now be available in Spanish," wrote the Bronx representative on her official account.

Since announcing her campaign to represent New York's 14th District, Ocasio-Cortéz has frequently spoken about her desire to improve her command of the Spanish language, stating in an interview with Univision "Spanish was her first language, but like many first-generation Latin Americans, she has had to work continuously to improve it.”

Likewise, and as the media recalls, the congresswoman's initiative has to do with the high Hispanic population in her district where "approximately half of the population is of Hispanic or Latino heritage.”

The use of her native language has been an important focus for Ocasio-Cortéz during the last few months.

In late October, the congresswoman introduced Senator Bernie Sanders at his largest campaign rally just steps from Washington Square Park, introducing him as "Tío Bernie.”

Two months later during a town hall meeting in Las Vegas, Ocasio-Cortéz again accompanied Sanders in front of 2,000 people giving her first speech entirely in Spanish.

After assuring that speaking her parents' language is "a personal project" that she intends to improve upon, the Congresswoman told her story for the first time to a Spanish-speaking audience.

Now, her commitment to the community is even stronger.
