On June 14, 2010, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that a new version of the Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card (Form I-90), is available on the USCIS website. The new version of the form is dated 8/10/09 and contains more user-friendly features.
When is a replacement resident (green card) needed? Usually the need to file for a replacement card arises when a Lawful Permanent Resident has lost his/her green card, was issued it as a child and is now over 14 and must be fingerprinted, has an expiring green card ( remember, cards are generally issued for 10 years), has received a card with a typographical error ( or has never received it at all due to lost mail) or has undergone a name change.
Applicants may file Form I-90 electronically (through e-filing), or through the mail to the USCIS Phoenix Lockbox facility.
