The second annual AL DÍA 40 Under Forty event will serve to highlight and showcase some of the most diverse and impactful young professionals across the Philadelphia region.

At the event, taking place on August 27, 2021, Amadelly Rodriguez will be one of the 40 honorees. She is health center associate and administrator at Greater Philadelphia Health Action, Inc.

Biography

As a health center associate and administrator at Greater Philadelphia Health Action, Inc. (GPHA), Rodriguez works towards the organization’s goals of providing the best healthcare to families no matter their economic standing.

GPHA treats individuals across seven comprehensive health centers, four university-based health suits, six dental centers, and one childhood development center.

Here are Amadelly Rodriguez's responses:

1. What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your professional career?
One of the biggest challenge I have been faced as an associate Health Center Administrator has been multitasking and identifying with employees professionally and in a personal level dealing with the constituents who enter our facilities on a day to day basis who expect professionalism and privacy. Catering to the population we serve maintaining a neutral mindset and upholding company standards.
2. What steps can be taken to improve diversity, equity and inclusion in your industry? Why is it important to do so?

Being aware of unconscious bias, communicating the importance, promoting equity developing strategic programs and most importantly acknowledging holidays of all different cultures. Making it easy for our people to engage in employee resources and groups to solidify a healthy team.

3. What does being a leader mean to you?

Being a leader to me means leading by example. Knowing that every member of my team feels that they have a voice. Being a leader to me is also not telling people what to do but taking the time to educate them on how it should be done also not expecting individuals to do things a leader would not do.

4. Where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years, I see myself working harder for my team, colleagues and subordinates. I aspire to become a chief in my organization and continue to give those as myself an opportunity to continue to grow professionally in the same token progressing my family on a personal level.
