Philly's not so great emojis

Guess what, Philly? We finally have our own set of emojis. Visit Philly, the city’s tourist organization, unveiled a set of emojis yesterday. Some of them include the Philly Pretzels, the Love Park sign, and Ben Franklin himself.
The only problem is the app isn’t too user friendly and the emojis aren’t that emoji-like. They mostly appear as poorly pixelated images and leave much more to be desired. I downloaded the app this afternoon just to see how well it would translate to my iPhone.
The keyboard lags a bit, almost as if my phone wanted to crash at any moment. And while the small amount of GIFs the app has are pretty cool, I don’t find myself impressed with the choice of app symbols.
They seem too stereotypical, even a little boring. There are definitely other sights in Philly that can be translated well into app form: our new mayor, perhaps even Philly Jesus.
Moreover, the emojis don’t work on social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram, which is another huge letdown. So even if I was excited about my beloved city getting representation in the emoji world I wouldn’t be able to share it with friends through social media — only by text.
Hopefully, the Philly emojis will get better, but it’s safe to say as of right now I’m uninstalling it from my phone so that I can get that last minute of battery life back.
