City and State PA acquires Philadelphia Public Record

Today’s edition of the Philadelphia Public Record will be the first published under a new ownership.

City and State Media, a New York-based multimedia company, announced yesterday that it has acquired the Philadelphia Public Record, a community newspaper in Philadelphia covering politics and labor.

City and State Media primarily focuses their reporting and coverage on government, political and advocacy news across multiple platforms, that also includes a weekly print magazine. The firm will use its current resources to expand the digital presence of the Philadelphia Public Record.

 

 

“I’m looking forward to this next chapter to help build on the knowledge and accolades we’ve gained over the years and to contribute to an award-winning news organization like City and State,” Jim Tayoun, owner of Philadelphia Public Record, said in a press release. “We have really enjoyed serving our readers for the past 15 years throughout Philadelphia and in Harrisburg; now is the time to add digital products and events to a passionate local franchise.”

Tayoun will still be a involved with the publication in a leading editorial role. The paper will also remain at its current headquarters on South Broad Street during this transition.

City and State PA Publisher David Alpher and Editor Greg Salisbury will work closely with Tayoun to bring new writers and columnists to the Philadelphia Public Record to complement the paper’s current team.

Today’s edition of the Philadelphia Public Record will be the first published under the new ownership.

“Jim Tayoun and his team have been covering Philadelphia for a long time, and we hope to build on their success,” City and State CEO Tom Allon said in a statement. “The Philadelphia Public Record will remain the paper of record each week for all those who are civic-minded in the Keystone State and its largest city, Philadelphia.”
