Primary Election for Philadelphia City Council, 2019.
Three-term incumbent Philadelphia Councilwoman María Quiñónez-Sánchez faces during this coming May the 21st primary election what may be considered the biggest challenge of her political career when her right to her councilmanic seat will be contested by the 20-year veteran of the Pennsylvania State Representative, and also Puerto Rican political leader, Mr. Angel Cruz.
The race is seen as definite to Councilwoman Quiñónez-Sánchez career, in particular in connection to a potential run for Mayor of Philadelphia in 4 years. Cruz is endorsed by the Democratic Party, which Mrs. Quiñónez-Sánchez has successfully prevailed over during her 3 consecutive times she has been opposed by a party-endorsed candidate.
