AL DÍA sits down with Philadelphia Commerce Director Michael A. Rashid about how the Commerce Department plans to play a key role in the reopening of Philadelphia's economy heading into the summer.
Michael A. Rashid was appointed Commerce Director by Mayor Kenney in November 2020, and has decades of experience in the private sector working in healthcare. While serving as CEO of Total Health Care in Baltimore, one of the nation's first managed care plans, he helped pioneer the managed care industry. He also held numerous leadership positions prior to becoming President and CEO of AmeriHealth Caritas, a national leader in Medicaid managed care and other healthcare solutions, in 2010. From 2013 to 2015, Rashid also served on the Obama Administration's National Council on Minority Health and Disparities.
