Junio 30, 2022The Balch Springs Police Department, Texas, USA, on Tuesday dismissed the police officer who shot at a vehicle and killed an unarmed African-American teenager last weekend.
The incident occurred during the early hours on Saturday when Jordan Edwards, 15, left a graduation party in a vehicle with his two brothers, Vidal and Kevon, and two other friends.
At that moment, police officer Roy Oliver shot at the vehicle with his rifle, killing Edwards.
The first official version was that the vehicle reversed at high speed towards the officers, so Oliver fired, but cameras proved the opposite: the young people were actually driving away in the opposite direction of the officers.

On Tuesday, the Chief of Police of Balch Springs, Jonathan Haber announced at a press conference that Oliver has been dismissed.
Edwards' family was satisfied with the agent's dismissal, but said there was still "a long way to go" to achieve justice and asked for Oliver's arrest for murder.
In a statement, Edwards' family also reported that Edwards' brothers and friends were treated as "criminals" by other remaining officers: "manhandled, intimidated and arrested, while their brother lay dying in the front seat."
