Every day, climate change is affecting the world we live in and how we live our lives.

Last September, the United Nations released a report stating that “we are running out of time”  due to the high levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. In December, Johns Hopkins University determined a list of the top 10 cities that are more likely to be susceptible to blackouts from future hurricanes, due to climate change.

Now, The Weather Channel has created a list of the top 25 cities that will be most affected by climate change.

Various factors were used to determine the list including sea level rise, extreme precipitation/drought and temperature changes.

Philadelphia ranked 10th on the list.

“Philadelphia is the first city in the top 10. Many minimal factors add up to significant risk for The City of Brotherly Love: It’s exposed to flood loss from sea-level rise, it experiences some degree of the urban heat island effect, extreme precipitation and extreme drought are expected to continue rising. Plus it’s on the Atlantic Coast, adding hurricane risk to the picture,” Michele Berger, of The Weather Channel, wrote.

The other cities that came in the top 10 top of the list include New Orleans, Louisiana (1); Minneapolis, Minnesota (2); Las Vegas, Nevada (3); New York, New York (4); Kansas City, Missouri (5); Boston, Massachusetts (6); Denver, Colorado (7); St. Paul, Minnesota (8) and Washington, D.C. (9).
