The ongoing issues with Yeshiva University don’t seem to end. On Friday, the Modern Orthodox Jewish university halted all activities in a desperate attempt to avoid giving the Yeshiva University Pride Alliance the recognition it deserves ruled by the Supreme Court and a lower New York Court.

Yeshiva University is refusing “the same access to campus facilities as other clubs, including a classroom, bulletin boards, and a club-fair booth,” as reported by The Washington Post. 

The Washington Post further reports that an official email sent by Yeshiva University to students is halting all club related activities as part of the upcoming Jewish holiday. The email stated it would “hold off on all undergraduate club activities while it immediately takes steps to follow the roadmap provided by the US Supreme Court to protect YU’s religious freedom.

In a statement responding to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling, the University president, Rabbi Ari German said “every faith-based university in the country has the right to work with its students, including its LGBTQ students, to establish the clubs, places and spaces that fit within its faith tradition.” 

The University did not disclose the steps it will take to preserve its institution’s religious rights.
