Dr. Arthur Zilberstein, who worked at the Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, had his license suspended for engaging in sexual activity on hospital grounds. 

According to a statement by the Washington State Department of Health, the physician is being charged with endangering patient safety due to his "preoccupation with sexual matters while he was on duty between April and August of 2013."

The physician sent nearly 250 sexually explicit text messages while performing medical procedures including Cesarean deliveries, epidurals, and tubal ligations. He also used medical record imaging for sexual gratification and issued prescriptions to patients without proper evaluation and informed consent. Zilberstein even issued prescriptions to a patient he had sexual relations with. 

"He repeatedly failed to focus on his duties while providing anesthesia by sending text messages of sexual and personal nature with a patient,"said Michael Farrell, legal unit manager with the state of Medical Quality Assurance Commission. 

During the investigation, Zilberstein made racist remarks toward a patient and misrepresented his work schedule to an investigator. 

As of now, Zilberstein can't practice as a physician until charges are resolved, he has 20 days to respond and request a hearing.
