The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 98 now employs three surveillance drones that can fly over protests and construction sites.

The drones were purchased a few months ago to fly over job sites and protests said the union's President John Dougherty in an interview with the Associated Press last week. The hope is they will be able to document any rule violations.

The Philadelphia-based workers union posted a Youtube video earlier this month of one drone flying above a large protest in January.

"They're out and about," Dougherty told CBS Philly.

The video is set to Rockwell's 1984 hit "Somebody's Watching Me." It hovers over the streets and highlights the protesters and inflatable rats. 

Wally Zimolong, a lawyer representing the rehabilitation project at the former Parker Spruce Hotel, the target of the union's YouTube video, told the TV station the drones could possibly be used in ways that violate labor laws. But he added later that the devices could indeed be effective.
