The Department of Environmental Protection and its regional air quality partnerships have announced a air quality warning for today.

Philadelphia is among nine counties that are will be affected by a Code Orange. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s standardized air quality index uses colors in order to report daily air quality. Orange represents an unhealthy pollution level for sensitive people.

Those who are potentially affected by this include young children, the elderly and those with respiratory problems such as asthma or bronchitis.

Today’s high pressure, which has been in place along the eastern seaboard for the past few days, will continue to dominate our weather. This will lead to small winds, mostly sunny skies in the morning and warm temperatures in the highs peaking well into the 80s.

But don’t worry, this weather won’t be around for too long. According to the DEP we are likely to see a cleaner air mass begin to build in on Saturday as the winds begin to turn out of the south.
