As a result of the fatal shooting that killed six people near the University of California, Santa Barbara campus on Friday, May 23, YouTube has decided to remove dozens of videos posted by gunman, Elliot Rodger.
A YouTube spokeswomen told Washington Post, the clips violated terms of service regarding videos that threatened violence. "Our hearts go out to the families affected by this terrible news," Smith said in a statement. "Videos threatening violence are against YouTube's guidelines and we remove them when they are flagged.
Despite the website removing most of Rodger's uploads, his "retribution" video, filmed a day before the rampage, is not entirely removed from the site and can still be viewed through other YouTube channels. In addition, Rodger's YouTube channel has not been removed and continues to be active with hundreds of users commenting on what led to the unfortunate incident.
