Twitter slams accusations that its restricting specific accounts by Russian extremists, according to Bloomberg.

Instead, the company is showing officials how to report illegal content so it doesn't spread outside the country. 

The Russian telecommunications regulator, Roskomnadzor, is making numerous attempts to block all content it finds "extremist." Earlier this year, it blocked more than 80 websites. 

Alexander Zharov, head of Roskomnadzor, met with Twitter's public policy chief, Colin Crowell on Monday, June 23. After the meeting, Zharov told reporters that Twitter agreed to prohibit access for ten accounts, according to Bloomberg. 

"That claim is inaccurate, as we did not agree to remove the accounts," Nu Wexler, a spokesman for Twitter said in a statement. 

Vadim Ampelonsky, a spokesman for Roskomnadzor, clarified accusations that Twitter agreed to shut down content. 

"Roskomnadzor passed Twitter information of 12 microblogs, the content of which was defined as extremist by Russia's general prosecutor's office. Roskomnadzor is hoping for a positive decision of Twitter administration about removal of these accounts or blocking access to them on Russian territory."
