The popular coffeehouse is offering to reimburse tuition for workers enrolled at Arizona State University's online degree program. The new collaboration allows employees who work at least 20 hours a week, the chance to complete a bachelor's degree without the burden of paying for tuition.

Under the Starbucks College Achievement Plan, freshman and sophomores who enter ASU are eligible for partial tuition scholarships. Junior and seniors will earn full tuition reimbursements for each semester of full-time coursework they complete.

"In the last few years, we have seen the fracturing of the American Dream. There's no doubt, the inequality within the country has created a situation where many Americans are being left behind," Howard Schultz, President of Starbucks said. "Everyone who works as hard as our partners do should have the opportunity to complete college, while balancing work, school and their personal lives."

Those admitted in the program will have no commitment to remain at the company past graduation. Starbucks plans to phase out its current program that reimburses workers' tuition up to $1,000 yearly at Strayer University or University of Seattle.
