*Facepalm* We messed up

If you are not constantly on the twitterverse (as we are) you might have missed it, but this afternoon we messed up.

If you are not constantly on the twitterverse (as we are) you might have missed it, but this afternoon we messed up.

Moments after mayoral candidate Ken Trujillo withdrew from the race, we were tweeting.  Only this time, we got it wrong and instead of tweeting "Trujillo" we tweeted "Díaz."

We're actually quite proud of how proactive we are on Twitter, and how frequently we interact with many of our readers, our peers and the officials of our city through social media, and in this instance it meant that a lot of people got the wrong information, fast.

After some more facepalmswe got it together to post all of the apologies we could and to try and set the record straight.

And, in a lovely gesture of solidarity, many of the city's journalists (big names!) tweeted sympathetic tweets about when they had screwed up some fact or another. Dubbed "the confession train," the tweets went a long way in making us feel better about getting it wrong. We love this about our colleagues and about Philadelphia.

To our readers, a simple promise that we will always try to get it right.

And if we don't, we'll own up to it. Promise.
