"I've always been shy but now I'm more happy, more confident with myself," Nishi told complex. The risk people take all in the name of vanity is crazy, but hey, whatever makes you feel better about yourself, right?"

Nishi spent a year in a student exchange trip at Dongseo University, where he found inspiration for his changed look. 

According to complex, the skin around his eyes was injected with hyaluronic acid to make them appear smaller and he also dyed his hair from blonde to dark brown.  "As you know there are thousands of Asian eye styles, Nishi told Metro UK. "I had one major surgery on my eyes and then small procedures to reach the correct appearance."

Despite the drastic transformation, Nishi still identifies as Brazilian. 

"There are many mixed Brazilian people. For me, a Korean person looks Brazilian as much as a German person or any other person that was born here. So even though I've changed the shape of my eyes, I am still Brazilian."
