In a recent interview with EFE, Spanish actor Antonio Banderas revealed he's in some Broadway companies to produce a musical about legendary Spanish painter Pablo Picasso.

 If the negotiations materialize, the Spaniard expects the world premiere to be held at the Soho Theater in Málaga, Banderas' hometown, and where Picasso was born 141 years ago. 

"There is a project related to Picasso, but I can't say more," Banderas said during a press conference at a Soho Pops Symphony Orchestra concert.

The actor and director also added that he expects the musical to be a "milestone" because it would be the first time a Broadway company would perform in Spain for a play of that stature. 

"It would really be a world premiere and it would be a new milestone because it would be done in English," Banderas said during the press conference. 

He also revealed that he is currently closing "the rights with a new musical," about which he has not shared any details, but mentioned that it "is part of the pillars of American musical theater."

"It is a musical that is going to surprise because nobody would dare to do it in Spain," added Banderas, who also said the project comes with significant risk. 

In the meantime, Banderas has performed a series of shows with Company, 184 to be exact throughout the provinces of Madrid, accompanied by an orchestra of 26 musicians.

As for cinema, Banderas said during the press conference that he would be visiting Almería and Alicante to shoot the movie Camino a Belén, in which he plays the character Herodes.
