Mexican singer Vicente Fernandez has achieved remarkable improvement in his medical condition and managed to leave the Intensive care area in the hospital where he has been since the beginning of August. On Wednesday, Oct. 27, his doctors informed through a press release uploaded to social media, that 'Chente' is in a hospital room out of danger.

"We are pleased to inform you that Mr. Vicente Fernández is out of the intensive care area, in a hospital room, where he will continue with his treatment and rehabilitation," said the statement signed by doctors along with the artist's family.

Fernández, 81, is now in rehabilitation and in the company of his family. The fall, which caused a blow to his cervical spine near the skull, injured his spinal cord and left the artist without movement in his arms and legs.

After emergency surgeries and further complications, the singer is improving and working on recovering his mobility. Although progress is slow, doctors report that he is doing so progressively and continues "with intermittent (respiratory) support."

Fernández suffers from Guillain-Barre syndrome, a condition that attacks the nerves and can lead to paralysis. The condition has nothing to do with the fall, according to statements from his family.
