Amaia and Aitana, two icons of Spanish pop that emerged from the factory of the television show, Operación Triunfo, recently met again to compose and enjoy music together. In "Canción que no quiero cantarte," the artists turn away from the mainstream styles and delve into punk riffs, with the bass line playing a leading role.

It is a song without filters or limits, where Amaia sings to a boy and makes things clear: if he wants to be her friend, he will need to work hard for it. Her partner Aitana refers to the guy as "a sea bream with depression." Despite sharing a song, which will be included on Amaia's new album Cuando no sé quién soy (due out Friday, May 13), both do not appear together as subjects in the music video.

Aitana appears in a brief cameo, but nothing more. Amaia appears disguised as a yeyé girl playing the guitar, and is constantly chased by a weird Elvis Presley. She then transforms into a 90s girl who comes home and starts making a cake. The sequence of scenes is not logical.

The music video is the work of Canada and was directed by Virgili Jubero, who had the challenge of designing a reunion for the singers. The art direction is original and colorful, and it features peculiar photography that matches the lyrics of the song, which talk about a heartbreak.

It harkens back to classic British sounds, where a punk base is fused with synthesizers and energetic voices without too many tricks. The first lyrics say it all: “here's your song, the rest of your stuff in boxes in the living room. It's so weird not talking to you, singing songs that make me think of calling you."

The first collaboration between the Spanish singers was in 2017, when they performed Zahara's "Con las ganas" together on Operación Triunfo. Regarding her new album, Amaia recently said in an interview that the work involves “a conversation with myself, through songs sung in the first person and with the voice very close.”

Regarding the composition and the rhythmic bases, she pointed out that “it will be minimalist, as if the listener were inside the head.” With the release of the new album, Amaia has already scheduled a tour of Spain and Portugal, with stops in Zaragoza (May 15), Seville (May 19), Murcia (May 20), Barcelona (June 3), Porto (June 10), Malaga (July 3), Tudela (July 16), Benidorm (July 30), Cambados (Aug. 5), Aranda de Duero (Aug. 13) and Madrid (Sept. 17).

Amaia's new album includes 10 songs, where the new punk song with Aitana stands out. In the credits, they appear as co-authors of the song with C. Tangana, Alizzz (who pushed Rosalía to fame) and Víctor Martínez.
