If you were like most kids, you spent your childhood creating (and destroying) works of Lego “art.”

Nathan Sawaya, a New York artist, has turned this children’s toy into contemporary art. Sawaya has now brought his Lego masterpieces to Philadelphia after touring various cities in North America, Asia and Europe.

From Feb. 7 to Sept. 6, The Franklin Institute is exhibiting the world’s largest gallery of Lego art. “The Art of the Brick” exhibition features over 100 Lego creations made from more than a million Lego bricks. The collection includes large- scale replicas of famous sculptures like Nike of Samothrace, David and The Thinker, replicas of historic paintings such as Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night, as well as various original work from Sawaya.

Sawaya even created a Lego version of the Liberty Bell just for Philly.

The opening day for the exhibition will also feature Ben’s Brick House, a Lego-themed build-and-play area, Lego brick building challenges, appearances by Star Wars characters, free all-day screenings of The Lego Movie and more.
