The U.S. Department of Treasury announced Wednesday  that Harriet Tubman will replace former President Andrew Jackson as the new face of $20 bill, according to The New York Times

Last year, U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew announced that he would consider replacing Alexander Hamilton with a woman, spurred by a campaign to name a historic figure such as Rosa Parks or Eleanor Roosevelt. But fans of the hit Broadway musicall "Hamilton" sparked a renewed affection for the nation's first treasury secretary.

The new design of the $20 bill, from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, would be made public in 2020 in time for the centennial of women's suffrage and the 19th Amendment to the Constitution.

Other depictions of women and civil rights leaders will also be part of new currency designs, the Times reported.

A campaign launched Wednesday called #NotGoingBack, is urging Lew to reconsider his original plan to put a woman on the $10 bill, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal. Their argument is that it could take more time to redesign the $20 bill. Another group, Women on 20s, is advocating replacing Andrew Jackson's image instead.
