The El Color Azul Foundation installed a new sculpture called EL CARACOL (The Snail) at the Pegasos Pier in Cartagena, which will be sunk in the near future to be part of the underwater exhibition at the Museum of Art and Environment of Cartagena (MuMar).

"We made this initiative convinced of the need to have a cultural offer capable of linking the creations of human ingenuity with the environmental wealth of the city and the world," the foundation said in a statement.

This idea received the support of the Institute of Heritage and Culture of Cartagena to be exhibited in the area, as it is one of the most emblematic and iconic places in the city and complies with the MuMar's itinerant mission guidelines.

This work, which was commissioned to the Cartagena artist Jose Olano, after being exhibited for between six months and a year, will be submerged between eight and ten meters deep on the seabed, diagonal to the access of the Ciénaga de los Vásquez, Barú, in the Caribbean Sea, the location of MuMar, and will function as an aesthetic object and an artificial reef.

"From this moment on, Cartageneros and visitors, with 'La Ruta del Caracol', will witness one of the most ambitious initiatives for the strengthening of culture, the arts sector and the promotion of the protection of the marine environment," said Duvan Felipe Muñoz, director of the project.

This project, supported by the Colombian Ministry of Culture and the Museum Network of Cartagena and Bolivar, is one of the most ambitious initiatives to strengthen culture, the arts sector and the protection of the marine environment.
