Shapiro joined AL DÍA last week to discuss the Office's prosecutions of predator priests for sexual abuse of children, leaving open a hotline for the public to continue denunciation of cases beyond the 1,000 uncovered by a Grand Jury Report.

Despite the latest grand jury report’s findings, Shapiro’s office has only been able to bring charges against two of the 301 “predator priests,” because of “weak laws and the statute of limitations.”
In Pennsylvania, there are now more than 16,000 cases pending in the courts - more than double the Sept. 2016 number.
“His decision will pull resources from natural disaster relief in Puerto Rico, and will prohibit money from being spent to fix our public schools, repair our roads and bridges, and provide affordable health care for Philadelphians,” City Council candidate Fernando Treviño told AL DÍA.
“After the devastating mismanagement of disaster recovery efforts across Puerto Rico, a mere resignation leaves us wanting,” the advocacy coalition, Power 4 Puerto Rico, said in a press release.
“The conditions imposed by the DOJ were an unconscionable attempt to bully the City and its residents into changing our policies,” Mayor Jim Kenney said in a press release.

In perhaps the day’s most moving session, the summit’s third theme highlighted the personal experiences of two medical students at Drexel University, Paulina Ramirez and Alfredo Muñoz.
“Across the commonwealth, we have workers aging out of our workforce, and too often the next generation of worker is not there or doesn’t have the skills to replace them. If we can’t strengthen our workforce, we will fall behind,” Gov. Wolf said.
“Debemos enseñarle a la comunidad minoritaria, la comunidad latina e hispana, que podemos ser exitosos. Y que lo que necesitamos es orientación y liderazgo, pasión y agallas, y todo este tipo de cosas”, dijo Roman.
“We have to show the minority community, Latino community, Hispanic community, everybody, that you can be successful. And what you need is mentorship and leadership and passion and guts, and all that kind of thing,” Roman said.
