Trump is afraid, very afraid
His ‘macho’ image is badly frayed
Donald Trump is in trouble. And he knows it.
That’s why he rushed to build a fence around the White House to fend off furious protestors and took refuge in an underground bunker lest a justice thirsty American people break into the White House.
In other words, the president, his “macho” image badly frayed, is afraid of the American people exercising their First Amendment rights.
A cowardly Trump had the tall, black chain link fence erected shortly after ordering the tear gassing of peaceful protestors against the killing of George Floyd gathered in front of the White House. The reason? He wanted to have his hypocritical photo op holding a Bible at St. John’s church.
Ironically, Trump’s fence has now become a memorial wall honoring victims of police violence and racial injustice.
Then, there is the bunker affair, another proof of his cowardice.
After it was revealed that, scared of the protestors outside, he had taken refuge in a White House underground bunker with his family he said this:
"Well, it was a false report. I was down during the day and I was there for a tiny, little short period of time. And it was much more for an inspection. There was no problem during the day."
"I've gone down two or three times, all for inspection. And, you go there, some day you may need it. I went down. I looked at it. It was during the day, and it was not a problem. And I read about it, in like, a big thing. There was never a problem ... nobody ever came close to giving us a problem."
"...They said it would be a good time to go down, take a look because maybe some time you're going to need it."
OK, sure, feel free to laugh at Trump’s ridiculous lies. But for him, with the election around the corner, this is no laughing matter.
The popular uprising triggered by the assassination of George Floyd against the racism and police brutality encouraged by Trump and his policies is not going away. In all probability, it means the end of the political career of the country’s worst president ever.
And if there is something certain, it is this: Trump, his “macho” image badly frayed, is afraid of his own people.
