Who’s in, who’s out and what to watch for in Obama’s immigration announcement tonight
How will Obama justify acting alone? What are Republicans going to do about it? Who will tune in?
- 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States. Five 5 million expected to be covered by the Obama’s executive action. Who will be in and who will be out? The devil is in the details, and the smallest one could be life-altering for some undocumented immigrants.
- How will Obama justify acting alone? Expect him to point out all the previous presidents who have taken executive action on immigration, from Eisenhower to the Bushes.
- Republicans in Congress are not going to be happy. What are they going to do about it? Government shutdown? Impeachment? Defunding immigration agencies? So many options.
- ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC will not air the president’s prime-time address. CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, Telemundo and Univision will. Who will tune in and who will get prefer to get their fix of Grey’s Anatomy, Bones, and the Biggest Loser. Latinos will be definitely tuning in because they actually care about it or because they’ll be waiting to see Ricky Martin and Pitbull performing at the Latin Grammy’s after the announcement on Univision. Dale!
