No, that’s not a headline from The Onion.

That’s the real-time projection of women’s pay in Pennsylvania, according to a new study by The Status of Women in the States.

Working women make 79 cents to every man’s dollar on average in our state, which equates to $38,000 annually or 32 percent less than what a man makes. The gap between college-educated men and women is even higher, with women making 36 percent less.

For comparison, PA ranks 23rd (with a C+ grade) in terms of this wage gap and its implications. The District of Colombia ranked number one. West Virginia came in last place with equal pay projected by 2101.

Another startling tidbit from the study showed that millennial women in PA experience depression 22.5 days more than man annually.

So far, Status of Women in the States has only reported data on employment and earnings. But if you check the site, there are different subject areas with “data coming soon”: political participation, poverty, reproductive rights, health & wellbeing, violence & safety, and work & family.
