Latino population in the United States  keeps growing. As a result, in states like California and New Mexico, Latinos are no longer a minority (they outnumber whites).

Latinos are not only growing in number, they are also much younger than the average non-Hispanic white American; which means there is a significant number of Latino children growing up in the U.S. What is their situation?

The Annie E. Casey Foundation has released its 2015 Kids Count Data Book. Here are some facts:

The release also highlights some improvements. For example, teen and children death rates are lower than the national averages and more Latino children are born at a healthy weight relative to other racial and ethnic groups. The Latino teen birth rate is still the highest in the nation but it has decreased. In terms of employment, unemployment rates among Latinos have nearly bounced back to pre-recession levels, according to the Annie E. Casey Foundation.
