This winter cost SEPTA $2.2 million
This winter has put SEPTA $2.2 million over budget thanks to increased snow removal and decreased ridership.
SEPTA will report this week that the constant barrage of snow storms cost the transit authority more than $2 million, according to Plan Philly.
The authority budgeted $4 million in snow removal, but spent more than twice that. Nearly one million fewer rides in January plus greater efforts to combat the snow caused the authority's multi-million dollar deficit.
And the snow isn't even over yet. The Philadelphia area could see showers Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
