University of Southern California's Robot Construction System may have provided a solution to affordable housing crises across the countrythree dimensional printing.

The technology known as Contour Crafting was developed by USC's Dr. Behrokh Khoshnevis and is capable of building different house designs complete with electrical and plumbing infrastructure.

The uses could be as diverse as low-income housing construction to building shelter in uninhabitable areas like under water or on the moon.

While space habitation may be a stretch, Earth certainly could use a helping hand to produce high-demand affordable housing, whether that hand is human or robotic.

Last year, the Philadelphia Housing Authority reported that nearly 30,000 people were waiting to occupy a PHA unit and another 54,000 waited to receive a housing voucher. Currently, both wait-lists are closed.
