Kwasi Enin, a 17-year-old high school senior from Long Island, N.Y. applied and got accepted to all eight Ivy league schools in the U.S.,

University of Pennsylvania, Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, and Yale all sent acceptance letters to the straight-A student but not everybody was happy to hear it

"I simply thought I would apply to all eight, I know its crazy but I was hoping to get into one or two. When they all came, I said 'There's no way,'" Enin said in an online video.

Enin scored 2250 out of 2400, placing him in the 99th percentile of all students taking the college admission exam.

He told Newsday, that he couldn't believe "the yesses kept coming."

The high school senior ranks No.11 in a class of 747 at William Floyd high school in Long Island and by the time he graduates, he will have taken 11 Advancement Placement courses, according to USA Today

Enin is known to be very active in school-related programs and activities, he participated in the school's orchestra and a cappella group. He plays several instruments including the electric bass and viola.

Enin parents immigrated from Ghana to N.Y. in the 1980s and are both nurses that studied at public colleges.

In his initial reaction, Enin felt appreciative to all those who helped him along the way, including his teachers, counselors and parents.

"I thought to myself, appreciation and thankfulness to everyone who helped you in the whole process, all of your teachers, counselors and parents for all the support they do," Enin said.

Which school does Enin prefer? Yale seems to be his number one choice.

"I think my preference is Yale, they embody all the things I want for college, but I still have to compare all these schools," he said.

Response and criticism regarding Enin's story

Enin's accomplishments received positive but mostly negative responses from popular news website, Reddit.com.

The article by USA Today featuring the high school senior was sent to Reddit.com, and according to Fusion, garnered a slew of racist comments from people not happy about an African American teen getting into multiple Ivy League schools.

Here are some of the comments posted on Reddit's website.

"There are more than enough black people in Ivy leagues, poor white kid can't go even though his ancestors could get ahead of blacks in the 60s and 70s," one person wrote.

"'Seriously?'" my application was almost identical except that I was first in my class out of a top ranked tech academy focusing on a biotechnology program. I listed "white" for my ethnicity because they didn't have an option for Armenian. F**k affirmative action," another Reddit user commented.

A third seemed to come in defense of Enin,"I've seen white kids into top Ivy Leagues and liberal arts colleges with transcripts like this and worse. Everyone is poo-poohing him because their sister's cousin's kid didn't get into Cornell or whatever."
