On Thursday, City Council will hear a resolution to rename tech-heavy 3rd Street from Market to Girard as N3rd Street.

The shout-out to Philly's growing tech community is just one of the most recent efforts of city government to attract and acknowledge a creative startup section, the city's own Silicon Valley, per se

In just 10 years, Philly's tech employment has grown more than 100 percent and the number tech firms have grown more than 50 percent,  making the city the 3rd largest in tech job growth in the entire country, according to a city commerce report

This year, Comcast announced with the enthusiastic support of the city and state a new "Innovation and Technology Center" skyscraper full of loft-style, rentable office space after Comcast/NBCUniversal fill up 75 percent of the building. And more recently, Philly Tech Week will bring tens of thousands to discuss innovation and development around the city—and play a massive game of Tetris on side of the iconic Cira Centre skyscraper next to 30th Street Station.
