A Brazilian company that specializes in paper pulp is planning to relocate its Northeastern distribution center to lower Northeast Philadelphia this summer, adding 380 jobs to the area, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The center will move from the Port of Baltimore to Tioga Marine Terminal in Port Richmond and is expected to receive more than a dozen ships a year with more than 300,000 metric tons of paper pulp to be distributed by train to plants in the region. The company, Fibria Celulose S.A., is the largest producer of a specific wood pulp that goes into the making of tissues, toilet paper and paper towels.

Growth in the city's Chilean fruit industry has sustained business at Tioga Marine Terminal. The Philadelphia Regional Port Authority and the state have both agreed to improve infrastructure around the area for Fibria's rail transportation needs.

Governor Corbett met with Fibria multiple times last year to encourage the deal, as well as companies in Chile during an international visit to South America.
